Today our curiosity leads us to the North Simcoe Rail Trail on the outskirts of Barrie, Ontario.
We entered the trail from the Midhurst area entrance. This trail is connected to the Trans Canada Trail system which runs through cities and towns in Ontario. This trail also runs through towns such as Phelpston, Wyevale and Elmvale.
As we walked along the trail we were smiling as the view of farmers fields mixed with forest surrounds on various spots of the trail captivated our attention.
Next time I will try my bike as it looks to be a very nice biking trail as well. There is a brief history about the trail which adds an interest to the journey.
Some facts about the trail are that it is 40km in length and passes along the Minesing Swamp, Fort Willow and many farmlands and forests.
This trail was like a hidden gem that you could enjoy a whole day taking in nature and country surroundings.
